Super Bowl XLII Count Down

Super Bowl XLII will kickoff on Sunday, February 3rd at 5:18PM Central time. The game between New England Patriots and New York Giants is being played at the new University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Being the only team to have an unbeaten record this season, the Patriots are expected to trounce the Giants. The Patriots also have record breaker Quarterback Tom Brady going for them. Brady is just shy of beating the records of Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana who each have four Super Bowl titles to their name. Being from Dallas, I have mixed feelings about the Giants. The Dallas Cowboys who were doing so well were suddenly ousted during the playoffs by an unexpected win from the Giants. Now, it is that same hunger of wanting to win that might help them beat the Patriots.

Well, besides the exciting game itself, it’s always fun to watch the game for the commercials.

Each year, there are surprise winners amongst commercials. One memorable commercial that was a huge winner was the Godaddy commercial from a few years back. The commercial changed the landscape of domain registrations, ousting Network Solutions and making Godaddy the largest domain registrar in the US.

Such is the power of the Super Bowl commercials. It’s no wonder that they cost in the millions. Budweiser also had hugely successful commercials using frogs and crustaceans as memorable characters. For every super successful commercial, there are many others that fade away and the companies lose millions. Regardless, the commercials are definitely a highlight of the Super Bowl games.
