Throw abuses at the local bar wait staff, get free beer!

A bar called “Casa Pocho” near Valencia in Spain is encouraging customers to use foul language to swear at the waiters and waitresses. The owner, a Polish immigrant named Bernard Mariusz came up with the concept when he thought about the tough economy and the need to vent your frustrations somewhere. Customers who come up with original or hilarious ways to abuse the wait staff even get free drinks.
When I went to New York recently, I came across several Pizzerias where the wait staff insult the customers. That is supposed to be the charm of those places.
This one gives the customers a way to take out their frustrations. Truly original! You gotta have thick skin to work at this place though.
Pilot dies inflight, passenger dies in a car crash

A Continental Airlines flight from Brussels to Newark landed safely with a dead pilot on board. The 60 year old pilot apparently died of natural causes (heart attack?) while the flight was flying over the Atlantic ocean. Fortunately, there was a relief pilot onboard the flight who took over for the dead pilot. The 200 plus passengers were not aware what happened as the crew kept their composure and continued to serve food and drinks. That in my opinion is truly amazing as it would have caused panic and anxiety among the passengers if they had come to know that the pilot had died. There was a doctor on board who examined the dead pilot and even attempted defribillation on him, but coud not do much as the pilot was already dead.
Apparently this is the second time a pilot has died inflight on a Continental Airlines flight - the last one in 2007 on a flight from Houston to Puerto Vallarta. Even in that instance the plane was landed safely by the co-pilot. All in all, it’s still very freaky to have your pilot die on your during flight. What’s up with the recent spate of scary plane stories? There was another story a few days back which came out just after the Air France disaster. A passenger who miraculously survived by missing the flight died in a car accident just a few days later in Europe. Remind you of “Final Destination”? Then there is a hoax chain email with a photo which claims to have been taken at the exact time the Air France plane broke up. The hoax email claims the camera was recovered and this picture was found. Apparently, the photo is from a pilot episode of “Lost” from 2006 and has been circulating in chain letter emails after every plane mishap.

A little boy went missing from in front of a Long Island bakery in 1955. Now 54 years later, a man named John Robert Barnes of Kakkaska, Michigan thinks he might be that boy stephen Damman. It’ a truly intriguing story! The man has provided his DNA sample for testing along with the sister of the missing boy. The FBI is awaiting results, though a private test by the family seems to indicate a relationship.
The man claims he was abducted in 1955. If his story checks out, it would be interesting to find out whether the family that raised him had anything to do with the abduction.
David Letterman apologizes

David Letterman has apologized for his crude joke about Sarah Palins teenage daughter. There was an outcry against Letterman because of his joke about Alex Rodriguez knocking up the Palin daughter. What Letterman did not realize is that the daughter he was referring to was just 14. Letterman thought it was the 18 year old who was at the game with her mother. Palin was furious when she heard the joke about her 14 year old daughter. Thankfully, Letterman has apologized on his show for his insensitive remarks and it seems to be sincere.
Many are still calling for Letterman to be fired for his sexual joke on an underage girl.
What do you think should happen? Is it enough for Letterman to apologize or should there be a more serious consequence?
Binge drinking in colleges

A recent news report talks about the increase in alcohol related deaths at universities due to an increase in binge drinking across our campuses. I wonder what might be contributing to such an increase? Could it be an increase in stress levels or is it peer pressure or maybe just lack of knowledge on the effects of binging? Whatever the case maybe, according to the report, more young adults die from alcohol than in the Iraq war. This is a shame. Could parents do more to teach our kids responsible drinking? Even when US college students go to Cancun or other places for Spring Break, they go over board on alcohol and many die or are raped, robbed or even jailed. Something really needs to be done about this. In countries where the minimum age to consume alcohol is lower than the U.S., experts say binge drinking is also lower. Could that be a solution ? I am not sure. Let me know your thoughts.
