Millvina Dean was only 9 weeks old and on board the Titanic in 1912 when it sank. Fortunately for her, she survived because women and children were sent off the boat first. Her father had to stay back on the ship and died along with the countless others.
Recently, she was running out of funds to pay for her nursing home. Her monthly costs are around $4500 and she had started to auction off personal belongings to make the payment. To help her, author Don Mullan created a Millvina Dean fund and challenged the stars of Titanic movie to help out. Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and James Cameron stepped up and donated $30,000 to the fund. It’s really nice to see Hollywood give back something to the last survivor of the ship whose namesake made gazillions of dollars
Way to go Leo, Kate and Mr. Cameron!
