Dangerous levels of lead in your lipstick?

According to the recently published results of product testing conducted by SafeCosmetics.org, a number of Lipsticks manufactured in the United States contain high levels of lead. Lead is a toxic substance that can cause long term damage to the human body and has been banned above certain levels in our products. Lead has also been in the news lately due to toys made in China containing high levels of lead.
According to this report by SafeCosmetics.org, more than half of the 33 brand name lipsticks tested contained detectable levels of lead. though lead was never listed as an ingredient. A third contained lead in levels that exceeded the US FDA limit of 0.1 parts per million for products such as Candy. For example, L’Oreal Colour Riche “True Red” was tested to contain 0.65 parts per million. Christian Dior Addict “Positive Red” had 0.21 parts per million.
